Super Mario 64 is a game full of bright colors and family-friendly platforming action, which makes the inclusion of the Big Boo’s Haunt level rather jarring. Set in a haunted mansion, the level creates a creepy atmosphere with its dark, depressing visuals and the unsettling cackling of ghosts from off-scr
Whereas most of Half-Life 2 is a straightforward sci-fi adventure games guide, the city of Ravenholm is where the game ventures into horror territory and provides the franchise’s scariest moments. Gordan Freeman reaches Ravenholm shortly after acquiring the Gravity Gun, which comes in handy when fighting off the headcrabs and zombies that are swarming the pl
I initially slept on this game upon its October release, even though I enjoyed my time trying it at E3. When I recently got an Xbox One and Game Pass, I decided to download this game and have been hooked on it ever since. Lonely Mountains: Downhill is a great podcast game, and I have now played it while listening to everything from stand up comedy to podcasts to the last democratic debate. Still, even if I wasn’t listening to anything, the game remained enjoya
Like most gamers, our team at Game Rant has enjoyed many of the games released this year, and looks forward to the games set to release in the next year. Much of that excitement spurs from the impressive trailers that have been released over the last 12 months. To commemorate the best and most notable set of trailers released throughout 2016, here are Game Rant’s Top 10 Video Game Trailers of 2
There’s a lot of weird stuff in Fallout 3 ‘s Capital Wasteland, but perhaps the most disturbing place players can come across is the small town of Andale. Andale’s residents seem like normal citizens living in post-apocalyptic Washington, but after speaking with Old Man Harris, it’s clear the town is harboring a dark sec
Finally, at the end of PlayStation Experience 2016, the developer revealed the announcement trailer for The Last of Us: Part 2 . The second game in the series takes place five years after its predecessor, and will follow Ellie , who played an important role in the first game. While the title is still in early development and a couple years from releasing, gamers around the globe are excited to know it’s coming and will undoubtedly live up to the high standards set by Naughty
It’s hard to pick a single creature from the Pokémon universe as greater than any other; since the games have seen no fewer than hundreds of the creatures pass through their midst. But even if every player who spends time simulating the career of an amateur Pokémon Trainer has their favorites, one has come to represent the franchise as wh
The Journey takes place fifty years after the events of Fable III. Players take on the role of Gabriel, a dweller who is living a happy, but simple life with his tribe in Albion. After a sudden lightning storm, Gabriel is separated from his caravan and forced to find an alternate route to reunite with them. Soon after, our hero is caught up in the attack of an earth-shattering force known as The Corruption. Narrowly escaping the spreading darkness, Gabriel meets the mysterious Theresa. The last of the hero bloodline, she’s tasked with protecting the world from evil that threatens it. Gabriel must help restore her power by taking her to the Tattered Spire. To assist in this quest, spell-casting bracelets are harnessed to protect them from the evils of Albion.
Stealth game Thief: The Dark Project takes a turn for the weird in the game’s seventh mission, The Haunted Cathedral. In this mission, Garrett visits an area called the Sealed Section, which has been cut off from the rest of the city due to a violent zombie outbreak. Sure enough, players encounter zombies and other supernatural entities when making their way through this particularly spooky mission, which helps it stand out as one of the most memorable and scariest in the entire g
Dicey Dungeons made deck-building interesting by turning genre conventions on their head in its various playstyles. It is a game that everyone should give a whirl, even if they don’t typically like roguelikes or deck-based games. Dicey Dungeons never stops being fun and is far and away the best indie game I played this year. I don’t have a joke for this one, but I think the jokes have been on a good roll thus
As is common with Kinect, enjoyment of the title will largely be based on how accurate your set-up is. I played the game with a 42″ TV in moderate lighting conditions and adequate space around me. Some will experience the game in better conditions, but I prefer to review Kinect releases with what I feel is a realistic representation of most gamer’s arrangements. To calibrate, there’s a special tool that has you cast spells at stationary enemies. It seems easy enough, but after using the new settings, attacks were going all over the place. It took about four calibrations to get it as accurate as possible. Once calibration is correct, there is a learning curve to get spells accurately cast. To really nail it, your arm must be fully retracted before extending, with the palm facing up at all times. It sounds simple, but remembering to keep correct form during the heat of battle can be tricky.
